The newsletter system is a kind of “rudimental system”,other developer define this situations with “mail system could be limited” or similar phrase, because generally the host puts some limits to the mail function, for example a max number of mail per hour/day (ex Dreamhost 100/200 mail per hour and another one 500 mails per hour) or max subscribed to send emails(ex 5000 subscribed and after you have to buy a vps account), so for big newsletter systems I suggest you to use a reliable dedicated newsletter system that can handle all the request,unfortunatly almost all of them require a subscription fee. However I tried to do my best to assemble something nice.
